The Forum

Club member Johnny Baker has made a few changes and as a result we now have a much better forum for Club Members to use to discuss angling in this area.

The Forum is run independently, and not by the Committe. However, it is requested that all posts to the Forum are kept clean, and that the Forum is not used for "having a go" at other anglers.

Local Tackle Shops

Angling & Hiking Centre

Prop: Tim & Claire Errington 275-277 Rawlinson St, Barrow

Tel. 01229 829661

Tim and Claire Errington took over the ownership of the ‘Angling and Hiking Centre’ on the 18th April 2006 and look forward to meeting customers both old and new.
They are keen to maintain the success of the business whilst recognising that new lines (no pun intended!) need to be introduced to keep up with customers demands. Goods by Korda and Shimano are now in stock and will shortly be joined by Fox products, BSA air rifles and accessories.

Already in stock are items for Coarse, Sea, Game and Carp fishermen. They are happy to order items in for customers and are constantly looking for the
best deals and prices..

Opening hours have been extended and are now:
Mon to Sat      9am - 5.15pm
Sun.                 8.30am -12noon
Gift vouchers are available for any amount and make an ideal present.
There have been a few changes to staffing in the shop and during weekends and school holidays Tim and Claire’s children Katy and Adam will be helping out. John, who has worked in the shop for the past twelve months is on hand to help and advise and is joined on occasions by William and Chris.

Rods & Sods

Prop: Alan Dickson The Gill, Ulverston

Tel.01229 582367

Alan is a friendly chap, always willing to offer advice. He was originally in a different location in Ulverston, selling bits and bobs and second hand fishing tackle. But since moving to the Gill business as improved and he now stocks a good selection of new tackle.

During the main fishing season you can also get your maggots and he has some good deals on ground baits. Alan stocks a large variety of pike dead baits and sea baits throughout the year. His tackle range suits all budgets from the beginner starting out to specialised rods and reels for the likes of carp fishing. He has kindly agreed to sponsor a junior match this year and as put up an additional prize which will go to a category not already sponsored.
